Join the Harvard Club of San Antonio Book Club on Tuesday, December 1, at 6:30pm-8:00pm for a discussion of:
Marcus Aurelius (Books I-V)
It has been my honor to invite all our Crimson friends to our Fall 2020 Harvard Club of San Antonio Book Club! Channeling the spirit of Harvard President Emeritus Charles W. Eliot (serving 1869-1909), we have been reading and discussing selections from the Harvard Classics. It has long been a hope that careful and cautious study of classical texts can help humanize our conversations while maintaining critical analysis of past and present predicaments.
That said, our Book Club has been studying Stoic readings, including The Apology of Socrates and The Golden Sayings of Epictetus. Next up: Marcus Aurelius. The format of our meetings follows the Socratic dialogue and begins with an opening question. There are no right or wrong answers, just a dialogue, which typically generates more questions than answers by the end!
