The Harvard Prize Book

Who: Harvard Prize Books are awarded to outstanding students in the next-to-graduating high school class who display excellence in scholarship and high character, combined with achievement in other fields. Donated by Harvard Clubs and Shared Interest Groups (SIGs), Prize Books are presented annually in over 2,000 high schools around the world.

Where: Prize Books may be awarded to students in a high school of the Club's or SIG's choosing.

When: Prize Books are generally presented at the end of the academic year and can be given at high school award ceremonies or graduation exercises with remarks from a local Harvard alumnus/a.

Why: Prize Books are an important way for Harvard Clubs and SIGs to recognize talented young students and attract students to the opportunities at Harvard College.

You can participate in the Harvard Prize Book Program of the Harvard Club of San Antonio in several different ways:

Sponsor a Prize Book.  For $40 per book, you can sponsor a Prize Book that will be presented to a student or faculty member in one of over 20 schools in San Antonio and beyond. Proceeds from book sponsorships are used to cover the costs of the books and to offset the expenses of our celebratory BBQ to which all Prize Book award winners, and their families, are invited as special guests. To sponsor one or more Prize Books, please click here.

Present  Prize Book.  Each Spring, Harvard alumni present Prize Books to students and faculty  at public, charter, private, and parochial schools all over San Antonio! Presentations can take as little as ten minutes, excluding travel time, depending on the school. If you are interested in presenting a Prize Book, or have questions about the presenting process, please email me at eliseboyan@alumni.harvard.edu

Attend the Prize Book BBQ.  Every Fall, once the temperatures dip a bit, we gather for an informal, backyard BBQ to celebrate the Prize Book winners. All Prize Book recipients, and their families, are invited to the BBQ free of charge. BBQ tickets are $25 per person, or free for current Harvard students and recent Harvard graduates. Stay tuned for more details on the BBQ.

Underwrite the Prize Book BBQ.  Whether or not you attend the BBQ, you can make it a special event by helping to offset the costs of hosting all of our special guests. No contribution is too small! To underwrite the 2017 BBQ, please click here.

Or, all of the above!

Thank you! With Crimson Cheer, Elise Ring Boyan
